Sryth™ Expanded Info EntryTurnbread
This dense, hardy, wheat and barley bread, is traditionally baked as small, round
loaves.
The name 'turnbread' refers to a longstanding legend that states that a loaf of this
bread must be 'turned' (rotated) at least once while it's rising, or ill luck will descend upon
anyone who consumes it.
Turnbread is a staple for many travelers because of its ability to keep for long periods -- as long
as it remains reasonably dry.
Most loaves of turnbread have a thick, hard outer crust and a soft inner core.
