Arcane spies are thieves who specialize in stealing all manner of
arcanum (physical and otherwise) from mages. In most cases an arcane
spy will be acting on behalf of another mage, although there are
some who operate independently and sell their ill-gotten plunderings
to anyone willing to meet their price.
The profession of arcane spy is ancient, and highly-despised within
the magic community. Still, despite their outward aversion to the
profession, many mages still employ the services of a skilled arcane
spy from time to time -- although none would ever admit to it!
On top of being expert thieves, arcane spies are also experts in the
realm of arcana.
