The Shadowfold, located near the heart of the Neverness , is a spinning arm of quasi-reality into which is gathered an infinite array of isolated realms and dimensions for which the laws of nature, including time itself, exist as malleable entities.

The realm of Zarathmor , is a bleak world of tangled realities, exists deep within inner bands of the Shadowfold .
