Thane Pyrond of Tysa

Thane Pyrond is one of Tysa's Five Thanes , and he is arguably the most powerful and influencial. The tall, yellow-bearded charismatic man, though barely thirty years of age, is of unquestioned ability.

Pyrond earned a reputation for himself as the bold and skilled leader of a band of mercenaries that waged a nearly nonstop battle for five years against tribes of goblins, trolls, and ogres in the foothills of the Felrundin Range , in western Tysa.

Pyrond was granted the title of Thane by King Wenreald , upon the untimely death of Thane Tsarak. Pyrond made his first goal as Thane the recovery of the city of Trithik from the criminal element that had insidiously taken hold of the city in recent years.

Though characterized by his critics as both brazen and foolhardy, his supporters (including Tysa's King) commend him as a champion of the people, whose relatively young life is already full of deeds of heroic stature.

One of the more famous of Thane Pyrond's heroic deeds is the expedition he led that slew the dusk dragon known as Zaafyl .
