Circle of Warding

Circles of warding, typically comprised of either nine or eleven roughly-square stones, have been used for ages to protect people and places from evil spirits and dark magic.

The stones that make up these arcane circles are usually engraved with one or more symbols of warding that supposedly contain the magic that serves to create the circle's aura of protection.

While powerful sorcerers are indeed capable of creating functioning circles of warding, it's believed that most such circles have either never been enchanted, or have long since lost any protective powers they once possessed.

Many remote towns and villages across the North Broadlands still employ circles of warding.
