Baleward

Baleward is the surname of an ancient line of powerful spellcasters who long served as the stewards of the cursed forest of Fogbough .

The Baleward stewards long ago constructed a fortress within Fogbough, known as Castle Baleward , from which they waged an incessant battle against the forest's creeping curse -- a curse they believed would one day threaten the world beyond the borders of the wood.

Nearly two hundred years ago, the stewardship suddenly collapsed, and Castle Baleward was abandoned. The last known steward of Fogbough, Umdurol Baleward , is said to have fled from the castle following his father's death -- at the hands of an ancient and powerful forest evil.
